Ascendant Council Down!
This has been another great week of raiding!
On Wednesday we blitzed through BWD with very few hiccups. We even one-shot Atramedes, which is impressive since it took us 12 tries to get him down last week. We then wiped a lot on Nefarian, but we did technically get to phase 2. Emphasis on “technically”… Next time we should try to have more than 1 person alive going into phase 2…
A new shadow priest joined us for the first four bosses. He has almost no raid experience, so we weren’t sure how it would go, but he performed like a pro! He had watched all the fight videos before raid and then he executed everything flawlessly. I was so proud! (As recruiting officer I feel like all the recruits are “mine”, and their success is like my success, you know?) We subbed him out for Atramedes because we’d been having so many issues with that fight, but hopefully we can get him in on that one soon too.
We also had enough people online that we could run two BH groups on Wednesday. We did have to juggle things around a bit to get enough tanks and healers for both groups, and a couple of people brought alts to fill out DPS spots. But it was nice way to get some new people raiding with us. This also marks the first week that I’ve run BH on all three of my 85s. Though my pally really isn’t geared for it and lay dead for the second half of the fight… but she was there, dammit!
Thursday was BoT day. We killed Valiona/Theralion again and spent most of the night working on Ascendant Council. We had some difficulty with the DPS check in the third phase, but eventually we managed to bring them down. We even got the achievement! Our guild leader had read that doing the achievement actually simplifies the fight and allows more DPS because people don’t have to move around so much. It’s also easier to spread out to avoid the chain lightning when there aren’t people running around everywhere. Strange that an achievement could actually make a raid boss easier, but it worked for us.
Tonight we’re supposed to be Retro-Raiding again. I didn’t write about last week’s Retro-Raid, but it went really well. A few more people got their Rusted Proto-Drakes and Starcaller titles. The Yogg-Saron fight is a lot less painful now that people know how to deal with the brain room – Yogg only took two attempts, instead of a bazillion-and-one. We really should have one-shot Yogg, but we had switched some roles around because we only need 1 tank and 2 healers for Yogg, and, well… Our tank didn’t switch to tanking spec, so we DPS-tanked Yogg on the first try. It went fine until those Immortal Guardians ate him alive in phase three…
Here’s hoping we have another successful Retro-Raid tonight and get some good work in on Nef and Cho’gall next week!
