Cho’gall is Down!
Bastion of Twilight is officially clear! It took us many attempts to refine our strategy, but Cho’gall finally went down and we handed out our first tier token! Hopefully we can start downing him regularly and get everyone into their 4-piece tier bonuses now. This also means that we are 9/12 in progression and will be moving on to start Throne of the Four Winds next week (if all goes as planned). I think we’re going to leave Nefarian for a while, since it seems like a waste to beat our heads on that brick wall at the moment.
Our new Shadow Priest continues to perform well, and he made out like a bandit on loot this week. Most of our clothies are well-geared now and didn’t need the drops, so I think our Spriest won 4-5 new purples. Now if only we had people who needed agility mail or leather, since that seems to be the only other type of gear that drops for us…
We also had a new Boomkin join us recently, and he’s been performing admirably too. He’s brand new to the game, having started playing after Cataclysm release, so he has zero prior experience. However, he’s obviously put a lot of effort into reading about his class and watching strategy videos. I was very impressed when we brought him to Atramedes this week and he played like a pro! Honestly, since there’s such a steep learning curve on that encounter I expected him to have difficulty keeping his sound low, but he avoided all the sound increasing abilities and ran the correct direction every time. His dps is a little low at the moment, but that will improve with experience and gear – he’s still wearing blues for the most part.
Chimaeron still refuses to drop my bracers, though I did manage to get the ilvl 353 bracers from Zul’Aman. So I’m finally in full purples, but won’t get the cataclysm achievement until Chimaeron relinquishes my shinies.
Retro-raiding was a bit of a wash this week. Only 6 people showed up, and one of those people was feeling sick and logged out early. At least we were able to zerg Sartharion 3D down, so there’s one more guildy with the Black Drake. We had planned to work on ICC achievements, but we probably couldn’t have done them with only 5 people. Besides, we’d just have to come back next week to do them again for those who were absent. So we decided to just queue for guild random heroics. I suppose we could have gone to easier retro-raids, but doing randoms enabled us to complete a few more guild challenges and reach guild level 18. (Woot!) We also knocked out a few of the heroic achievements to get people a little closer to Glory of the Cataclysm Hero.
